Lincoln-With 4,724 fans in the stands and temperatures in the low 70s, it was a great day for baseball in Nebraska (14-6-1, 3-2) as the Big Red score six runs in the first two innings to beat Oklahoma State 12-4. Lefty starter Jordan Roualdes took the ball for the Huskers and had to work for his third win in a row, giving up four runs in seven innings while throwing 102 pitches.
At the plate, Kyle Bubak led off the game with a double down the left field line. Back-to-back RBI singles up the middle by Tyler Farst and Jeff Tezak gave Nebraska a rare early lead. Cody Neer backed up their performance with a line drive double to left center to cap the first inning scoring at three.
The Big Red bats would add three more in the second and the UNL baseball team was well on its way to their eighth win in a row at home to start the season.
Speaking of eight, the next to last inning played the part of big-inning for Nebraska hitter’s latest production on the diamond. Neer struck again with a 3-run home-run in the eighth as the Huskers batted around for five runs on four hits and one error.
Nebraska goes for the series sweep against OSU (14-7, 0-2) on Sunday afternoon, first pitch is scheduled for 1:05pm.
