BIG RED BLOG

Perfect 22

Put your hands together for the Nebraska men’s tennis, women’s basketball, wrestling, softball, men’s basketball, women’s gymnastics, soccer, women’s tennis and baseball teams for a perfect week.  Husker teams went 22-0 in team scored competition sports for the week ending March 8th.

Nebraska Drops Game Against Bears 10-7UNL_3_OSU_6.html

Lincoln-Wednesday’s warmer temps brought more fans to the stands, the result is not what they came to see. Nebraska falls at Haymarket Park for just the second time this season, 10-7 to Northern Colorado.

Backup Huskers’ catcher Jed Hanson provided one of the few highlights for the patrons on hand, a solo home-run in the second inning on the first game pitch he’s ever seen as a member of Nebraska’s baseball team. That gave the Big Red an early lead, but the pitching staff faltered for the second straight game and the offense couldn’t provide enough firepower to mount another comeback.

Sean Yost pitched three and two-thirds, giving up three runs on six hits to take the loss.  Coach Mike Anderson credited the Bears’ bats for coming through all series long.  In the two-game set, Northern Colorado connected on 23 hits, scoring 23 runs.

Big XII play resumes for Nebraska as they travel to Norman for a three-game weekend series against Oklahoma. First pitch Friday is set for 3:00pm.

Husker Fans See Double on St. Patty’s Day

Husker fans, you may need to pace yourselves on St. Patty’s Day. There are a pair of good games on tap Tuesday night. The baseball team takes on Dave Van Horn’s Arkansas Razorbacks and the basketball team opens NIT action at New Mexico. Both are intriguing match-ups and will be tough for the Big Red to win.
